Question by Travis: lyrics. wanna comment please?
Maybe Addiction Is A Part Of Human Nature

Laying on the ground
my white heart bleeds,
the black is everywhere,
I need another reason to breathe

I’m sick of pacing this dark room
Screaming outside is all I hear
I’d try to go to sleep,
but sleep brings back dreams I fear.

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel
that I can’t see
And I wonder if I’ll make it
before my heart’s last beat.
Give it that reason to beat, Lord.

Throw away the spoon and the lighter
I don’t need the heroin
But even when love is the drug
An addict comes back again.

Throw away the spoon and the lighter
I don’t need the heroin
But even when love is the drug
An addict comes back again.

Is it still frowned upon when love is the drug?
Is it still frowned upon when love is the drug?
Is it still frowned upon when love is the drug?
Is it still frowned upon when love is the drug?

I’m still addicted, I’m still addicted
I’m still addicted, I’m still addicted
I’m still addicted, I’m still addicted
I’m still addicted, I’m still addicted

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel
that I can’t see
And I wonder if I’ll make it
before my heart’s last beat.
Give it that reason to beat, Lord.

Throw away the spoon and the lighter
I don’t need the heroin
But even when love is the drug
An addict comes back again.

Hey Travis – Nice choice of words….
Regarding my own issues while reading your lyrics, I could relate.

Everyone has their own “drug” and “addiction” – so I applaud your choice of words.

Not to be nit picky, I do question the following…

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel
that I can’t see
And I wonder if I’ll make it
before my heart’s last beat.
Give it that reason to beat, Lord.
———————————————————————
if you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel then how do you know it’s there
And I question the line “and i wonder if i’ll make it”

i’m no expert, but my thoughts to re-word are…

They say there’s a light at the end of the tunnel
I can’t see it now
But know I’m gonna make it
before my hearts last beat.
Give it that reason to beat, Lord.

Throw away the spoon and the lighter
I don’t need the herion
When love is the drug
That’s all I’ve ever wanted.
