Question by the5500: Whats the difference between psychiatric hospital, psychiatric ward, insane asylum, mental hospital and rehab?

Best answer:

Answer by michele
They are different terms for the same place (i.e., inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment). The term “insane asylum”, however, is quite antiquated. “Rehab” is more associated with substance abuse treatment facilities. “Psychiatric/mental hospital” is usually a freestanding facility that is devoted solely to treating psychiatric patients. A “psychiatric ward”, is typically housed within a general med/surg hospital.

Answer by carelesswhisper1015
Not a whole heck of alot when you’re locked up in any one of them…I worked in a capacity of this calibur and believe me, what I say is so…….and at times much worse…..

Question by John: Does Medicare part B cover inpatient gambling addiction facilities?
Couldnt find the answer to this. Assuming the facility accepts Medicare, of course. I doubt I would have trouble getting it documented as “necessary” or whatever medicare would require. Also, what percentage if they do not cover it all. Facilities such as CORE, algamus, etc. Thank you!

Best answer:

Answer by Flower
Medicare Part B is for out-patient services. Part A is for in-patient services but gambling is not a medical conditon and would not be covered.

Answer by mbrcatz
Not exactly.

Medicare part A covers hospitalization in a regular or psychiatric hospital (note, there’s a lifetime maximum number of days covered). Medicare part B covers doctors services, 80% of the medicare rate.

If your “treatment center” is not a hospital, and the “counselors” are not Medicare providers, you’re not going to have any coverage at all.

My advice is to just google “psychiatric hospitals in Texas”, a psychiatric hospital is your best bet when it comes to things like this.

I don’t know of one in Texas, but I do know of one is Santa Fe, New Mexico that a friend went to. It is called, “Life Healing Center.”
