Question by Meghan W.: General addiction support?
I have what I believe to be an addiction, but it does not fall into the regular “groups” (Drugs, Alcohol, Sex/Porn, etc). Are there any general addiction support groups where I could seek peer aid?

It’s kinda hard to help if we don’t know what the addiction is. But there might be a support group for it. Maybe try googling it instead.

I really don’t know what to do I can’t get any help from my family and i really need to see a psychiatrist and get help and I am not just the only one who is saying this my Dr. told my father that i need to see one, and yet still know one is helping me. I am willing to do all the work but I need to know wear to turn if anyone knows wear to go or a number to call it would be greatly appreciated. I need to see one who is well rounded in gender identity problems and will be able to move me on in the process of getting to the next stag in my treatment (hormones etc.) I live in GV Ca. which is near Auburn Ca. and have no idea were to turn(I can’t even find my local pflag center to see if they know wear to go) please help me out I am transsexual and really need to start treatment.
I am 17 and need help please HELP ME!

Hi GG,

Don’t just see any psych, see one with experience with gender, preferably a therapist. IMO psychiatrists are too quick to try medicating you with anti-depressants. You don’t need those kinds of meds if you know what I’m saying.

Learn all you can about transsexualism. Here are a couple places to start:

And there are also many on-line support groups. One that specializes in young people, like yourself, is:
